Have you ever had one of your childhood dreams come true?
I’ve wanted to be a physician ever since I could comprehend abstract thought and could conceptualize my life and my future. Being naturally curious and having a deep affinity to be of service to others made this decision a no-brainer to me. Most people in my childhood suspected I’d pursue my art and become a full-time writer but in high school I fell in love with biology, anatomy, and psychology, devoured adult-level books centered around reconciling God and evolution, joined the science olympiad team, dissected a fetal pig, went to Bodies: The Exhibition, volunteered in the surgical unit of my local hospital, and watched my first ever spinal surgery live by the tender age of 17.
You’d think that with a head start like that of solid experience in the medical field, my road to my medical school acceptance would have been an effortless slam dunk immediately out of undergrad, but then you’d be horribly mistaken. You see, I may have had a head start with my clinical exposures, but I still had a lot to learn about myself and the world around me with a truck load of trauma to experience, unpack, and heal.
Last month I had my interview and just recently I finally received the news: I’M GOING TO BE A STUDENT DOCTOR OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE!!!!!
I can barely contain my excitement and look forward to organically growing ShadowFox Wellness into a new chapter of budding potential. At 22 years old, after suffering a barrage of intense life experiences throughout my undergrad, I thought I’d completely ruined my chances at becoming a physician. It felt like losing a piece of my own identity—my very purpose—and now here I am at 30, finally coming out the other side and having one of my childhood dreams finally come true.
If you’re wondering, YES, I am still seeing clients as I complete my Master’s program and will continue to see clients until August of 2022 when my first semester starts. I am also collaborating with my beloveds at @thesupernovasociety to continue bringing you soul-nourishing content about self-love and self-discovery through that channel as well.
Stay tuned as I will continue to keep my blog and insta active as I get myself back into the habit of making regular content! Thank you all for your love and support along the way! Looking forward to growing with you all
