Lomo’s “Flu Shot”

This is my first “recipe” I’ve decided to share on my blog and as an avid kitchen witch, I must say that I absolutely abhor the lengthy introductions that people do when it comes to recipes… So I am going to try and keep this as short and sweet as possible.
My partner came home yesterday afternoon feeling drained with a scratchy throat. He asked me to make my “witch potion” and it reminded me that this is something my readers could probably benefit from as well. I started tinkering with this recipe about 5 years ago and after several iterations I think I finally have something both powerful and palatable.
This is basically my panacea for anytime I feel inklings of inflammation or infection in my body. I’ve gotten rid of urinary tract infections so bad I had blood in my urine and even completely reversed the progression of pericoronitis in one of my wisdom teeth. Anytime I get a tickle in my throat or any other telltale signs of bacterial or viral invasion, I’ll also make this, hence the name “Lomo’s Flu Shot.”
And while all of that is good and well and true, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS RECIPE IN LIEU OF PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL TREATMENT. I’m not a doctor [yet], and I do not promote this “flu shot” over your doctor’s recommendations. This is a great drink to try BEFORE you go and see the doctor to try clearing it out on your own, but if your symptoms do not alleviate or continue to get worse, PLEASE GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR.
If you are ever feeling under the weather, I also invite you to investigate the mental and spiritual implications and discover whatever message your body is trying to send you. We exist at the nexus of our mindful, bodily, and spiritual systems and it’s important to always consider all 3 facets when it comes to healing anything—both chronic and acute conditions.
So, without further ado… Here’s the recipe!
You will need:
Access to a cold-press juicer
1 Lemon
2 “fingers” of ginger
2 “fingers” of turmeric
3 small cloves of garlic [or one big one and one small one]
Dash of black pepper
Splash of Apple Cider Vinegar
1tsp honey [though maybe omit this one when targeting something bacterial]
~5oz of spring/filtered water
[optional: add an 8oz bag of cranberries if you’re targeting urinary health]
Directions:
Cut the lemon into pieces and juice with ginger, turmeric, & garlic. Put a few shakes of black pepper in and a splash of apple cider vinegar. Add ~5oz spring or filtered water to take a little of the edge off, and down this bad boy just like a shot of liquor. Recommended to be taken with something in your stomach since this is a super intense mixture! Wellness shots are the best shots! Enjoy!
