Mid-metamorphosis

Finally on the edge of

corporeal fluency

lethological muscle memory

within these calcium dusted

bones oozing marrow

exuding ancestral memories

woven to perfection in double helix,

a sum much greater than its parts with speckled grit and mineral from graveyard headstones.

crumbling to earthen ash

a lone fire smolders

bones & paper flesh

assemble this

windchime skeleton for a spirit to howl

throughout this thoracic cave

every heartbeat

rippling into residual ricochets

every creak and moan

in this haunted body

singes memory to

this sprawling canvas,

The present laced to past

stitching patchwork

potential futures

temporal scarification

I mourn all the ways

I still fumble with

the language of my body

like a foreign tongue’s

first kiss.

caressing salve of

calendula--vehement marigold

everywhere I go

she carries me faithfully.

And yet its this service

that hushes my entire mind

lulled into a state of softness,

openness that yawns onto

cotton sheets draped in

the haze of lavender.

Here I settle onto my knees

at the altar of this animal body,

Every pang, twinge, and flutter

A verse in the hymnals

this sacred form hums

separate yet one with

this planetary cathedral.

This mind-body-spirit axis & integration is never ending, this process of continually discovering and excavating the very building blocks of my physicality is never ending. This dizzying pursuit of tracing the way my emotions are braided into my muscle fibers is never ending. This simultaneous tug of war and holy union within my identity of scientist and artist is never ending. Today on this lunar eclipse in Scorpio, I took some time to dive deep into the unknown of my shadow. Feeling burnt out with two more weeks left in the semester, I defiantly ground down even more deeply into my creative expression that nourishes my soul… despite it taking time away from imminent studies, I know its these words that will get me through the next two weeks with humbleness, grace, success, and awe. Now back to the grind <3
